In yet another sign of evidence that supports what we already know here at Perfect Blend Media… the most desirable opinion influencers use podcasts for their own research and consumption. A Universal McCann study confirms our own findings that not only podcasting, but the entire suite of options available for online distribution, promotion and social interaction are beginning to dramatically shift the marketing landscape of how buyers are influenced.

Bottom line:  If you want to reach influencers, in addition to your prospects, your should already be advertising in podcasts as a part of your media mix.

Survey Says!
Universal McCann’s global study of 17,000 internet users in 29 countries shows evidence that the most influential ”super influencers” index very highly against all active Internet users and are most likely to:

  • Upload video clips
  • Subscribe to an RSS Feed
  • Start their own blog
  • Download a podcast
  • Upload photos to photo-sharing sites

Other reasons to consider podcasting as part of a solid marketing campaign:

  • The medium, being relatively new and highly targeted provides a less divided and brand-safe environment for your message to stand out (be seen and heard again!)
  • Fans are ardent about the hosts of their favorite shows. That “personal” connection offers a halo of positivism for brands that advertise inside those shows.
  • Episodic, on-demand media increases the engagement of the listener/viewer in both the content and the advertising in those shows.

Social Media Age
This chart illustrates the vast difference between the previous (or slowly dying) Mass Market Age and the current Social Media Age. While it looks daunting, it’s important to note that a good plan, smart agency and some passion from your own organization can make all of those new social media tools work for you.

Consider the success of the recent U.S. President Elect and the overwhelming success of their campaign efforts.
