New media is really Now media

Over the last several months, we’ve been engaged in quite a few speaking engagements, seminars and other events that I would characterize as part of an “education phase” in the Alaska marketplace. The phrase “New Media” often comes up in discussion as a way to describe some of what we do at Perfect Blend Media. It struck me that we are unintentionally removing ourselves from the “real” marketing discussion by using language that suggests what we are doing is “new”. New seems to be a four letter word for many agencies, marketers and public relations people.

Social Media in Plain English
In summary
- Know why you’re doing it.
- Treat as a real media campaign. It’s as essential as your website and email address.
- Shoot. Edit. Produce. Compress.
- Distribute. Many times, many places.
- Measure.
- Be engaged in the conversation!
Social media age of influencers
Thursday, November 20, 2008 - 12:13 am
In yet another sign of evidence that supports what we already know here at Perfect Blend Media… the most desirable opinion influencers use podcasts for their own research and consumption. A Universal McCann study confirms our own findings that not only podcasting, but the entire suite of options available for online distribution, promotion and social interaction are beginning to dramatically shift the marketing landscape of how buyers are influenced.
Bottom line: If you want to reach influencers, in addition to your prospects, your should already be advertising in podcasts as a part of your media mix.
